Tata Harrier June Sales; Beats Jeep Compass And Mahindra XUV500 Again

Tata Harrier was launched in January this year and the SUV is gaining popularity among the Indian masses with its unique design philosophy. Even when the passenger vehicle sales have been dropping, Tata Harrier sales for the month of June beat its rivals.

Tata Harrier June sales accounted for 1,216 units while Mahindra XUV500 stood at 1,129 units and 791 units of Jeep Compass for the same month. Even for the months of May, Harrier sold a total of 1,779 units, Mahindra XUV500 at 1,195 and Jeep Compass with the least, 977 units.

Mahindra XUV500 has been on the Indian roads for a while now and manages to pull up a decent amount of numbers every month. Jeep Compass is also a popular product but has seen a decline in sales ever since it was launched in 2017.

Coming back to the Tata Harrier sales report, the mid-size SUV has been well received by the consumers in India. Tata Harrier comes with loaded features, packs a conventional design and looks dominating on Indian roads.

The SUV is a 5-seater and is based on the Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy and is built on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform which is borrowed from the Land Rover D8.

Features onboard Tata Harrier includes a large 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, auto headlamps, push-button start, rear AC vents, nine-speaker JBL music system and among others.

Tata Harrier sources its power from a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor churning out 140 bhp with 320 Nm of peak torque. It gets mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and returns an ARAI fuel efficiency of 17 kmpl.

The safety features on board include ABS with EBD, Child Seat Anchor Points, Reverse Parking Sensors, Seat Belt Reminders and Six Airbags. Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control and Hill Descent control too come in the safety features of the Harrier.

Tata is also planning to bring a 7-seat Harrier to the Indian market later this year. The car will make 170 bhp with 350 Nm of torque and an automatic transmission will also be made available when it will be launched. The same automatic gearbox will be followed on the Harrier too and additional feature like an electronic sunroof will be made available on the Harrier.

Tata Harrier prices start at Rs 13.01 lakh for the base trim XE and the top end trim XZ Dual Tone is priced at Rs 16.87 lakh. The base trim for Mahindra XUV500 starts at Rs 12.38 lakh while that of Jeep Compass starts at Rs 15.65 lakh. All prices are based on ex-showroom, Delhi.
